ReplyDeleteSuppose we got a number in figures 4351 in words we write four thousand three hundred fifty one
We write the expanded form of the numbers as 4351 = 4000 + 300 + 50 + 1
Hence, in the number 4351, the place value of 4, 3 , 5 and 1 are 4000, 300, 50and 1 respectively.
The original value of a digit is called its face value.
In the number 4351 the place value of 4 is 4000 and its face value is 4
the place value of 3 is 300 and its face value is 3
the place value of 5 is 50and its face value is 5.
